Kingman, Arizona is being transformed by dreamers like Tim and Lenore. It's historic heart is being infused with an infectious vibrancy by passionate volunteers that build a sense of community with each project. And it is becoming the crossroads of the past and future envisioned with the International Route 66 Festival in 2014.
On today's program America's storyteller author Jim Hinckley talks with Tim and Lenore that are giving two derelict buildings along Route 66 a new lease on life. It is a tale of inspiration, of tenacity, and of writing a new chapter in Route 66 history.
And Jim shares updates about an exciting new project being developed by the Historic Electric Vehicle Foundation. He also talks about the Kingman Main Street project that is a template for other communities working to revitalize an historic business district and other initiatives that are transforming Kingman into a destination.
Today's program is sponsored in part by Visit Tucumcari, Cactus Inn Motel, Roadrunner Lodge Motel, RouteTrip USA, Uranus Fudge Company & General Store, and the iconic Wagon Wheel Motel.
