She ran houses of ill repute in mining towns but her legendary displays of generosity made her a celebrity of sorts in the Arizona territory. So, her brutal and senseless murder, the lengthy trial, and the appeals that went as far as President Roosevelt garnered headlines throughout the country. So did the hanging, the only one to take place on the grounds of the Mohave County courthouse.
In the first episode of Coffee With Jim for 2023, America's storyteller shares this story, and the fascinating history of the territorial era jail that still stands in the shadow of the stately Mohave County Courthouse built in 1914.

Our guest on the program, Cort Stevens of CD Showcase and Old Cars Strong Hearts, notified me yesterday that he was under the weather. We will be hoping for a speedy recovery and a good report soon.
