Cadwallader Kelsey was a marketing and promotional genius. He had been instrumental in propelling Maxwell-Briscoe to the position of third largest automobile manufacturer. Alice Ramsey was a most unusual young lady in the society of the first decade of the 20th century. She learned to to drive and to make minor repairs to her Maxwell. And she learned to race. Together Kelsey and Ramsey became a powerful promotional team with the result being a road trip of epic proportions.
