What do the book The Luckiest Man: Life With John McCain, a self guided walking tour in Kingman, Arizona, and a Route 66 festival in Missouri have in common? On today's episode of Coffee With Jim, a Jim Hinckley's America program, we talk about unsung heroes (besides my dearest friend), inspirational people, and the people that work tirelessly behind the scenes to transform communities large and small.
Due to technical difficulties I had to carry the conversation along for a bit. That was followed by a live report from the Birthplace of Route 66 Festival in Springfield, Missouri, and conversation with an inspirational member of Kingman Main Street in KIngman, Arizona.
Take a listen and see if you are not inspired to make a difference in your home town!

2026. The Route 66 centennial. The semiquincentennial of the United States. A year of opportunity. That is the subject of today's informative and thought provoking program that includes an open forum with guests, and sharing lots of Route 66 centennial information about websites, initiatives, events, tours, road trips, preservation, grants, the building of cooperative partnerships, and economic development.
This is the first in a new series of programs. Each month the first episode of Coffee With Jim will be dedicated to the Route 66 centennial, and America's 250th anniversary, and how these events can be used as a catalyst for historic district revitalization as well as economic development.

You heard it here first! Will Mesalands Community College in Tucumcari, New Mexico have a course on neon sign repair and creation in time for the Route 66 centennial?
On today's episode of Coffee With Jim, a conversation between David Brenner of the Roadrunner Lodge Motel in Tucumcari, New Mexico and Jim Hinckley of Jim Hinckley's America we talked about chasing dreams, the rewards and challenges of vintage motel ownership on Route 66, mid life career changes, and what makes Route 66 unique. And we talked about a future in which neon glows bright along Route 66 in Tucucmari.
And we also talked with some fascinating people that see Route 66 as the road of dreams that leads to Tucumcari, land of opportunity.
If today's program had a theme it would be inspiration. Inspiration to chase dreams. Inspiration to build a sense of community and community purpose. Inspiration to change careers. And inspiration to embrace life.

Horneytown, North Carolina. Yes, it's a real place. On this episode of Coffee With Jim the conversation with Professor Nolan Stolz about road trips, Route 66, U.S. 6, Amboy, California, time capsule villages, and the joy of adventures on the open road definitely had some interesting detours. That includes delving into a bit of juvenile humor.

These road trip inspiring journeys are shared on his YouTube channel named for Route 66 Suite, a musical composition he is developing to commemorate the storied old highway.
