Ten Minutes With Jim: The International Nature of Route 66
Sunday May 12, 2019
Sunday May 12, 2019
There are active Route 66 associations in Germany, Netherlands, Czech Republic, Japan, and Canada. Tour companies that specialize in Route 66 tours operate from Europe as well as Australia and New Zealand. Long ago Route 66 morphed from highway to icon. The old highway was pictured as a magical place where adventures were guaranteed. Today it is perceived as a sort of theme park where the best of America, the romanticized image, is distilled, refined, and preserved, a living time capsule. On this weeks episode of Ten Minutes With Jim we discuss the international nature of Route 66 and the highways future.
This weeks program is sponsored in part by Antares Point Route 66 Visitor Center and Grand Canyon Caverns, the crown jewels on what is billed as "160 miles of smiles", Route 66 in western Arizona.

Ten Minutes With Jim - Route 66 Ghost-towns
Sunday Mar 17, 2019
Sunday Mar 17, 2019
On this weeks fascinating episode, we set out in search of history in the ghost towns of Route 66. The ghost towns of Route 66 are quite unique. They are rooted in the early 20th century or 19th century, and a few even date to the 18th century, but they are all ghost towns of the modern era as it was the bypass of Route 66 that led to their demise.
